in this topic i will be reviewing games, i'll only review games i have played throughtly so some of my favorites will be the first to be reviewed. _________________ the us might have nukes, the russians might have great tanks, the chinese might have numbers but all el salvador needs is a machete.
audio/graphics:6/10
the graphics aren't good, but are decent for it's age.
there's some nice death scenes and some talking heads and that's nice.
the audio is good and has some of the best voice acting of any game.
controls:7/10
the controls are average, there is nothing like outstanding but it is not bad just...average.
story:10/10
the main thing in here is the post-apocaliptic setting.
there's few humans and a lot of danger, the world is in ruins and stuff, the backround is well done and the main story is too, it all starts with a simple item hunt but becomes thick by the end.
gameplay:10/10
great character creation capacity and interaction.
almost everything in the game has a use, there's a lot of cool stuff, the interface is easy to use and you can create a lot of characters, with so many stats, skills, traits, perks and progression types this game allows you to make a character about just the way you want it to be and such.
bugs:5/10
it might be because it's smaller but i didn't find as many bugs here as in the second game, there's quite a few though.
replay value:10/10
given all the ways you can finish quests, all the possible types of characters and stuff, etc. this is a game you'll play a lot even after beating it.
other things: this game is great in many senses, you should buy it if you're an RPG fan or just love good games.
overall: hmmm, id give it an 8.5/10 as there's some minor things that could be (and WERE better in the second game), including for example...the take all button, better interaction with party members and a bigger game. _________________ the us might have nukes, the russians might have great tanks, the chinese might have numbers but all el salvador needs is a machete.

gothic is a german game series by piranha bytes and jowood, i'll be reviewing the first game now.
graphics/audio:8/10
the graphics are a little bit blocky but get the job done, some of the locations and spells look neat.
the sound is where it gets most of it's points though, everyone in the game has voice acting, you actually hear them talking when you talk to them instead of just getting text. that's not very common in computer rpgs but it's nice, the actors are really good, i heard they were EVEN BETTER in the german version.
controls:6/10
very weird, maybe too weird for some, they are ok in my opinion but they could be better, they did get better in g2 tho.
story:10/10
the game's strongest point along with the gameplay, you are a prisoner in the penal colony of khorinis, and there's a war with orcs so prisoners in that valley must mine a magical ore for people to make weapons from, weapons made from that ore are very sharp and don't break easily so they are a deciding factor in the war, the prisoners are kept in the valley by a magical barrier made by a group of mages, but the barrier overgrew (you'll learn the reason when you play =P) and the mages were caught inside.
you have no name, no identity, no talents, you are a prisoner in the colony. you have to survive the evils in the penal colony and escape.
gameplay:10/10
another of the strong points, you are free to explore nearly every location in the game from the start (except those that are quest related for obvious reasons), you can trade stuff, join one of the 3 guilds, use a lot of magic spells and other weapons, kill stuff, there's a lot of stuff to do, it also has a day-night cycle.
for those that don't know it means the game goes through day and night in a realistical way, the A.I. is pretty good too, an npc may go eat lunch in the morning, go talk to his buddies, have lunch at the tavern, do some work or have fun and then go to the tavern until the late night, after that they go sleep. it's mind-blowing even if you've beaten it over 5 times. (btw, this game takes like 40 hours to beat normally.)
bugs:6.5/10
the game has quite a few bugs, wich is understandable for a game of it's size.
replay value:9.8/10
with 3 different guilds and that amount of different stuff to do you'll want to beat this game AT LEAST 3 times.
overall score:9.3/10
if you get used to the controls, wich takes a mere 20 minutes then you will be in for many hours of fun. i recommend it. i could buy all 3 games at best buy for like 28$ =P
