SPOILERS!

ok in this thread i will talk throughly about some game storylines.

if any of you became curious about the storyline of a game i talked about in any of the other threads then look no further for the rest of it.

ok i'll get started now and remember.

IF YOU GIVE A QUARTER ABOUT KNOWING THE ENDING OF A GAME BEFORE FINISHING THEN YOU SHOULD NOT READ THIS.

ok this will be my first.

it's going to be hard since the game has a lot of freedom.
you can travel to most places since the beginning of the game, you can do different things, finish stuff in different ways, etc.

im going to tell it from the view of a good, non-stupid character but there can be evil characters, thieves, diplomats, warriors, idiots and many kinds of characters.

fallout is set on a world of radiation, mutants, monsters, big guns and awesomeness. (in post-nuclear california)

in the relatively near future the earth is nearly wiped clean of life because of a great atomic war wich destroyed most of humanity in 2 hours.

some humans were fortunate enough to reach huge underground bomb shelters built by the goverment (these were called vaults).

vaults were huge, inside vaults people could live safe from the radiation and destruction of the ouside world, they produced some food and recycled their water and stuff.

you lived in one of them, vault-13

but one day...the water chip that purified the water broke down and all spare parts were missing or busted, without water the vault will only survive for 150 days, and you drew the short straw and therefore must go out and look for a new chip.

then the game begins!

the only information you have is the location of another vault, vault-15.
there should be a water chip in vault 15, ye it sounds like it at the start.

on your way there you stop on a settlement between vault-13 and vault-15

in there the main character helps people and gets helped in return, then sets out for vault-15 again.

shortly afer you get to vault-15, well the RUINS of vault-15

well, luckily many gamers didn't have high hopes of finding the water chip in here as it would have been too easy, after killing a load of rats you discover the room the water chip should be in has been crushed under loads of rocks, time to look somewhere else.

the hero returns to the town he went to before (it's called shady sands)
to look for information, well after some problems with raiders the hero decides to look in a town called junktown (and gets the help of a guy called ian, who becomes his first party member)

they arrive in a place called junktown, a city in wich the hero is adopted by a dog, not any normal dog, enter DOGMEAT people sure love dogmeat =P

then he helps a guy (the mayor, killian darkwater) fend off an assasin and also helps him to defeat the guy who hired the assasin (gizmo, the obese, evil casino owner).

in here the hero may also recruit a guy called tycho, who is described as wearing a gas mask and a trenchcoat. he is probably the strongest npc as he has good aim with shotguns and rifles and stuff.

then the group travels to a place called the hub, the largest city in the game, in there he helps more people, gets more money and learns more about survival. there was no water chip there tho.

you get pointed in the direction of a city called necropolis, it was a destroyed place populated by ghouls (mutated people), the hero travels through the underground sewer system and meets some friendly ghouls there too, the hero then emerges from the sewer and shortly after he discovers a new horror, it was over 3 meters tall and was grey with a bit of green, a super mutant.

and there was more than one, they had thick skin and huge freaking guns, like flamers and miniguns and big energy weapons and rocket launchers (those are the average super mutant weapons).

well, luckily you find the water chip in necropolis.

after returning it to the vault and finally loosing that time limit you have a new task, the vault overseer was pleased with the new water chip but scared of the mutants you tell him about, they are a danger to the vault and as you are the only one in here to have survival experience you are sent to destroy the source of the mutant army.

so you go out again with a new quest.

ok im back with the rest of the thing.

after leaving the vault the hero wanders in the wasteland for some time, exploring those places he has been to before and idk, getting more quests and stuff.

eventually he decides to visit his old friends at necropolis again and finds that all of the ghouls had been killed, large super mutants now roamed the streets and there was blood and death everywhere.

the hero finds only one survivor in the surface, hiding in a ruined building.

the ghoul told him about the mutant objective before he died.

the mutants were looking for clean humans, with little radiation damage and stuff, making vault dwellers perfect targets.

the humans were to be dipped in the vats, on a thick green liquid called FEV (forced evolutionary virus), this would transform them into super mutants.

now with a heavy hard and a cold burn in his soul the hero goes out to look for more information about the location of the vats.

he comes across an organization called the brotherhood of steel, that organization is dedicated to hoarding the most advanced technology in the wasteland and trying to save humanity.

they give the hero a chance to join, but he had to prove himself with a quest, he was required to go to a place called "the glow".

the glow was a military base, and it was destroyed after an atomic bomb fell on it...

upon arrival the hero finds a crater, he ties a rope and consumes some medication wich will give him 24 hours of radiation resistance, i don't remember how, maybe it made your body process the thing differently or did something to your cells or idk.

the hero manages to find cool weapons and armor and stuff there and also the item he needed to join the brotherhood.

he then becomes a brotherhood iniate and is given stuff and help.

the hero then attacks the mariposa military base, the "mutant recruitment center", that's the location of the vats.

eventually the hero makes the military base explode.

but that wasn't all, he had also heard something about the "master of the mutant army" or DARK GOD as his enemies called him.

that guy also had to be stopped as he could find a way to produce more mutants or something.

the hero then visits the los angeles boneyard and does stuff there, including getting a new and highly unimportant party member (a girl punk called katja who is incredibly weak for the time you get her and has the useless skill of being able to pick 2 of the locks in the game) and learn more about the master.

the master has these followers, the children of the cathedral.
they are humans and super mutants who follow the master, who by himself is very dangerous as he is incredibly intelligent, charismatic and has psychic powers, he can make VERY real-looking hallucinations and has merged with the overseer's chair, wich grants him the chair's twin gatling lasers (2 huge freaking laser gatling supermachineguns) and has 500 hp and summons supermutants with big guns every turn)

note on his hallucinations, you get them while on the corridor of flesh, the corridor before the master, some of their effects include:
damage
crippled eyes
permanent perception decrease
permanent intelligence decrease

to avoid his hallucinations you have to wear the psychic nulifier, or waste a perk on mental block, wich would be retarded.

well, as our hero had a goal, experience and a big gun he could defeat the master and save humanity.

but the overseer kicked him out for reasons revealed in the second game.

NOTE
these are possible changes YOU can do to the story:
you can travel to all the towns in different order.
you can solve quests differently, for example:helping gizmo kill killian instead of vice-versa.
you can destroy the master before destroying the military base if you want, it's less epic though.
you can talk the master into commiting suicide if you have high speech and have read an autopsy report wich proves mutants are sterile and therefore humanity wont be saved if he transforms everyone into mutants.
you can even bypass the master entirely and sneakily arm the nuclear bomb in his base.
etc.

ok now i think i'll be writing the story of fallout 2, and if you have a question about the story of a game i have played or want a game's story written here just ask.

fallout 2 is set 80 years after fallout 1, you are a descendant of the hero of f1. now called THE vault dweller.

after being kicked from the vault the vault dweller decided to travel north, and had a lot of people by his side (some peeps decided to leave the vault after they discovered what the overseer did).

he founded a village called arroyo.

well, the village is now dying and needs an artifact created before the war, the garden of eden creation kit or GECK.

the GECK includes food sintetizers, virtual libraries and basically all you need to recreate humanity after the apocalypse.

all vaults have a GECK so the hero is sent to vault-13, his ancestor's vault, to find it.

the problem is that no one knows where vault 13 is now. everyone who knew is dead now after 80 crippling years of low-quality tribal life in the wastes.

the vault dweller himself apparently died, although he dissppeared from the village.

well, as his descendant you must look for the geck, you are the chosen one.

and then the game starts, the chosen one travels through the temple of trials and obtains his ancestors vault jumpsuit and pipboy (oh, i haven't explained the pipboy, it is like a device worn on the wrist, it has a lot of functions including keeping track of your quests, displaying maps, keeping information, alarm clock, etc. you also had it in the first game).

once outside the chosen one helps the village and speaks to the elder (who gives him the quest to find a trader called vic as he appears to know something about the vaults as evidenced from a vault water flask he had)

the chosen one also speaks to hakunin, the shaman).

then the chosen one moves on to a town called klamath to look for vic, he killed the rat god, rescued a gecko trapper and had a tribal called sulik join him.

but no luck with finding vic, he used to live there but his shack was abandoned, the chosen one ransacked it and found a brokn radio and some other stuff.

the chosen one moved on to a place called the den.

it was a town full of addicts (they were addicted to a drug called jet) there was also a slaver guild, the leader of the guild was a guy called metzger, a mean guy who was holding vic captive in a room in the guild.

he chosen one releases vic and has him join his group but sadly, he doesn't know a whole lot of the vaults, except that his family lived in a place called vault city and stuff.
